Stillness — Tabletop Sculpture

Stillness is a small seated figure with a rounded, compact body, hands folded over the knees and a smooth, featureless head. The absence of a face is deliberate — the form isn't about a particular person but about the posture of concentration and quiet itself. The composition rests on a clear contrast of two colours: the warm, saturated orange of the robe against the matte white of the exposed parts — head, hands and feet — which appear to emerge from beneath the cloth. The surface carries a soft satin sheen that gathers light gently and brings out the full, rounded curves.

The sculpture is handmade — modelled, sanded and painted in layers, with no serial production involved. The saturation of the colour, the exact line where orange meets white and the small irregularities of the surface all arise from the hand-finishing process, which makes each piece unique — a natural quality of handcrafted work. Its compact size suits a desk, a bookshelf, a sideboard or a window ledge, where it brings warm colour and a quiet, meditative mood.
