Orbit — Garden Sculpture

Orbit is a set of broad steel arcs bent into open rings and bound into a single spinning volume on a low foundation plate. The bands never close — their cut ends fly off into space in different directions, so the form looks different from every side: at one angle a full circle, at another an unwinding spiral caught mid-movement. The surface carries a natural rust patina in a warm copper-orange tone that lights up against garden greenery in the sun and deepens to a rich chestnut on overcast days.

The sculpture is handmade — the arcs cut, bent, welded and finished individually, with no serial production involved. The patina forms through the steel's own reaction to the weather, so its distribution and intensity differ on every piece and continue to deepen over time — a natural quality of both handcrafted work and the material itself. The form is made for outdoors: on a lawn, a gravel courtyard, beside a driveway, in a winter garden or on a terrace, where greenery and shifting daylight work in its favour. It also serves well as an accent in public space or in front of a corporate building.
