Leap — Sculpture on Pedestal

Leap is a full, inflated figure with outstretched arms, raised on a slender rod above a mirror-polished steel base. The volume is deliberately simplified — a round head, soft rounded limbs, no facial features — so it reads not as a portrait but as a pure gesture of joy and weightlessness. The intense azure lacquer, finished to a high gloss, reflects its surroundings and shifts with every step the viewer takes: highlights travel across the surface while the darker hollows give the form its volume. The chrome pedestal doubles the colour in reflection and reinforces the sense that the figure is floating.

The sculpture is handmade — shaped, sanded and lacquered in layers, with no serial production involved. The depth of the colour, the pattern of the highlights and the small irregularities in the surface all arise from the hand-finishing process, which makes every piece unique — a natural quality of handcrafted work. The work is a bold, joyful hit of colour: it looks best in a bright minimal interior, a hallway, a showroom or a living room, where it acts as a counterpoint to a muted palette and natural materials.
