Horizon — Wall Tondo

Horizon is a circular wall panel built from hundreds of fine horizontal lines that tighten and loosen to create a fluid shift of colour. At the top the surface is cool and grey like an overcast sky, warming through the centre into amber and deep orange, then dropping in a single sharp cut into the dark navy-black lower half. That dividing line reads as a sea horizon at dusk — the image is entirely abstract, yet instantly recognisable. The striated structure makes the colours change in saturation depending on the viewing angle and the hour of the day.

The piece is handmade — the lines applied and finished in layers, with no serial production involved. The density of the striations, the fluidity of the transitions and the exact point where the warm range meets the dark all depend on the work of the hand, so no piece ever repeats another exactly — a natural quality of handcrafted work. The round format fills an empty wall without competing with the rectangular geometry of a room: above a sofa, above a sideboard, in a bedroom, a dining room or a reception area, where it brings a warm yet restrained note of colour.
